JOIN the Confuse-A-Guy Program

So I'm walking to the USPO and I see this big black guy shouting at the sidewalk. Actually, he was part of a work crew, and those flappy metal panels were open in the sidewalk and someone he was mad at was down there: he was yelling how lazy the guy was and really giving him hell.

I thought he was on the verge of a heart attack, so I went up to him and said, "Can I buy you a coffee?"

He immediately forgot his rant and said, "Sure!"

I asked what he wanted in it, and he said, "Surprise me." Not the response I expected; so I guess we were even, as far as catching each other off balance went.

I went around the corner, bought a NY "regular" coffee (that includes sugar and milk in this city), and when I came back a minute later, the whole crew was waiting to see if I really was going to do it. I don't know if I really diffused the situation, but everyone had a laugh for a minute, and at least Dwayne (the guy doing the yelling) didn't have a heart attack on my watch.

Try it! It's definitely fun!
